Vocalist Barbara Gaskin was born in Hatfield, Hertfordshire in 1950. Barbara attended Kent University, where she met guitarist Steve Hillage and joined the Canterbury folk rock band Spirogyra. In 1981 she joined forces with Dave Stewart (former keyboardist of Egg, Hatfield and the North & National Health). The duo's debut single 'It's My Party' was a worldwide hit, reaching number one in the singles charts in the UK and Germany. Stewart / Gaskin's partnership continues to the present day, with a catalogue of six albums released on their own, independent Broken Records label.
