Ryan Carter (born December 2, 1991) is an American recording artist, songwriter and producer, from Detroit, Michigan. Carter won bronze and silver awards on Global Music Awards. He's also the winner of Akademia Music awards for the best album 2015.
Carter was born in Detroit, Michigan and raised by his grandparents. He attended the Benjamin E Mays Male Academy in Detroit. After moving to a neighbouring, he began to become active in the arts and acting circles. Ryan Carter did not become involved in music until he attended Warren Mott High School.
Carter began his music career in 2008, while still attending high school. With the help from his friend Aaron Lapa, he began to create "mix-tape" CDs of songs recorded in his own basement.
In 2013, Ryan Carter released his debut album, Welcome to Planet Earth: Grand and Bad , on the underground hip-hop circuit. This album was a moderate success gaining him interviews on StopTheBreaks.com. Following that, he released his second album, Welcome to Planet Earth 2: Supreme and Devolved , which was a sequel to his debut LP in 2014.
In the fall of 2015, Ryan Carter returned with his third album "Mind of the Court Jester". The album helped earn him another 4-star review by critics and his first music award.
Off the success of Mind of the Court Jester, Carter released his fourth studio album "The Exaggerated Tales Of..." on April 18, 2016. The album managed to grab over 1 million digital sales and streams on music streaming platforms Spotify, iTunes, and Tidal. This album earning him a bronze medal from the Global Music Awards.
In late 2016, Carter landed a major endorsement of his music when Bizarre, of the Detroit group D12 promoted his upcoming album. Bizarre also went on to label Carter the "Weird-Al Yankovic of Detroit". Ryan released his fifth studio album "Nightmares in America" on Inauguration Day 2017. This album features an image of the US presidential seal with various images from American history superimposed in the background. These images ranging from a lynching, an upside-down American flag, Martin Luther King, and then President-elect Donald Trump was sure to incite powerful reactions from the audience. This album won Akademia Music Award, and silver medal from Global Music Awards. As of 2018, this album has gained over 1 million digital sales and streams online.
"The Doctorate", the sixth album, was released on New Year’s Day 2018. It was featured in WELAB magazine's December 2017 issue. Following that, Carter released single “Trump’s Throne” on Independence Day 2018.
