Born in Flers, François Morel has a father employed by the SNCF and a CGT activist, a typist mother, a big brother and a big sister. He spent his childhood in the village of Saint-Georges-des-Groseillers, a town adjacent to Flers. A shy but schoolboy student, he studied in a Catholic college in Sainte-Marie and found his vocation by taking theater lessons at the Albatross, the house of young people and culture (MJC). He obtained a master's degree in letters from the University of Caen then, in 1981, went to Paris and joined the rue Blanche theater school. A student at the Beaux-Arts, Christine Patry, also from Flers, who has lived with François since the university years in Caen, will become his wife
It was Jean-Michel Ribes who made the first call to François Morel's talent by entrusting him in 1988 with the role of the groom in his television series Palace. Then in 1989, he joined the troupe of Jérôme Deschamps and Macha Makeïeff: Les Deschiens.
Its notoriety exploded when the universe of Jérôme Deschamps and Macha Makeïeff was transposed to the small screen in a series called Les Deschiens which was broadcast on Canal + in 1993 in the program Nulle part autre.
At the end of 2006, François Morel began a career as a singer with his show Private Collection. On this occasion, he recorded an album of the same name, the release of which was followed by a tour extending until 2007. François Morel is the author of all the texts, on music mainly composed by Reinhardt Wagner, but also by Juliette and Vincent Delerm (publication November 20, 2006). He has also written songs for Francesca Solleville, Anne Baquet, Norah Krief, Juliette, Maurane, Nathalie Miravette, Juliette Gréco. He also lends his voice to the character of Rantanplan during the short films that show the misadventures of the most dumb dog in the West. On this occasion, he performed rap music related to the film Tous à l'Ouest.
