Asher Lev is the musical vehicle of Canadian artist Devin Bustin. With a lineup that has included cellist Aaron Ludwig, electro-magician George Kazaklis, guitarist Jeff Vanover, and drummer Dan Dorff, the band moves between stripped-down, cross-legged-on-the-dock folk, and muscled indie rock. As a student of fiction at the School of the Art Institute in Chicago, Bustin shows a love for the lyricism that ties him to his influences. While his voice echoes Michael Stipe and Gene Eugene, songwriters like Richard Shindell, Linford Detweiler, and Peter Mulvey are the Bustin's true musical mentors. Despite running interviews with the Brooklyn artist on the band's website, Asher Lev is a fictional character from Chaim Potok's My Name is Asher Lev.
