Artist Biography
Available in: gb icon
Hailing from Indianapolis, IN these three cats have made it their goal to save listeners from the bland, soulless, synthetic sound that is all the rage these days. By combining a bevy of instruments, samplers, and a gang of vinyl with creative production techniques and a little elbow grease, they've created a sound that'll make you bob your head and say "ah yeah"! Although not officially formed until 2001, this trio has known each other most of their natural lives. Brian and Jesse have been friends since junior high. Marty and Brian started collaborating in college and, in a surprise twist of events, later found out they had been on the same basketball team in the fifth grade. Coincidence...we think not. While in college, the two joined forces with the notorious Junior Varsity Crew and began wreaking havoc on the unsuspecting undergraduates in the area. Soon after that, they produced tracks for Indianapolis' own Origin@l. In 2001, with the addition of Jesse on guitar and piano, they put together the limited edition "Respect the Specs" EP and released it to glowing reviews. But the public demanded more. So in 2003, they unleashed their latest opus, titled simply, "Volume 2". Soon to be a bona fide classic, it's everything you'd expect from your favorite beatmakers. Guaranteed to turn out your next cocktail party, séance, or PTA meeting. And now, with distribution provided by Third Earth Music, it's available at your local independent retailer! What a country! In 2008, they returned with their third album of beats, breaks, and associated general mayhem. The follow-up to 2004's celebrated "Volume 2","The Iron Horse" is epic in it's cinematic scope. Like the soundtrack to the greatest film you've never seen, this collection of tracks shifts from gritty orchestrated scores to uptempo car chase funk to laid-back down home joints.
