Coely (20, Antwerp - Belgium) started rapping at the age of 17 after being heard singing in a youth center downtown Antwerp. She signed to independent record label Beatville (2012) and while still in school it was the start of an amazing roller coaster.
September 13th Coely released "the first song she had ever made" called "Ain't Chasing Pavements", a raw yet clubby hip hop beat, with a strong and powerful female rap vocal. Coely's first song received high rotation airplay on several national radio stations, Studio Brussels even selected the song as their "Hotshot". As the media attention started to grow Coely worked on her first EP called "RAAH - The soulful yeah" which she released March 23th. While successfully releasing singles called "Nothing on me" and later on "All I Do" she worked hard on improving her live performance, "a one woman show" assisted by her own favorite dj "Ephonk". Recently she also started working on songs with the latest addition to the Beatville stable, the 19 year old rapper called: "DVTCH NORRI$".
Coely was born to be put on a stage and perform, visibly happy, displaying a variety of skills, winning the hearts of the audience with her engaging personality. Her rapidly growing live reputation created new opportunities like opening for several artists like: Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, Nas, Jessie Ware, De La Soul, …
Coely graduated June 27th 2013, the next day she started her very first festival season by opening "Couleur Café". That same summer played at: Dour Festival, Lokerse Feesten, Into The Great Wide Open (NL), Valkhof festival (NL), Feest in het Park, Food For Your Senses (LUX) … She played 34 festival shows and got crowned "Queen of the festivals" as she was the hardest working Belgian artist past summer (Source: Studio Brussels).
At the moment Coely is still performing heavily, in the meantime she is planning a tour in The Netherlands (Januari 2014) and working on her (still untitled) second EP, expected to be released April 2014.
