Artist Biography

Every generation has their own music, the specific soundtrack for their lives. In the early nineties bands like Pearl Jam and the legendary Nirvana were taking raw punk and dissonant guitar work and creating what the world would later call grunge. In the later part of the 90's, hard rock and melody were set on a collision course with one another and what came out of that can be heard in bands like Linkin Park, the Foo Fighters and Tooth and Nail's Lucerin Blue from Quebec, Canada. Aggressive music with catchy melody lines that are primed for radio.

"We have a really odd sound" says drummer Ryan Turner when asked how he would describe their music. "We decided to really focus on heavier music about four years ago, just after Nathan joined our band. But old influences keep on creeping back into our music. We are all huge rock and roll fans. All of us like just simple rock so our music seems to be taking that twist lately...it kinda sounds like power pop, mixed with a dash of metal, and a teaspoon of hardcore." All these combinations make this young Canadian group one of the most unique artists you're likely to hear.

The band's Tooth and Nail debut, "Tales Of The Knife", is a mixture of hard and aggressive music with a pop sensibility akin to the aforementioned bands like the Foo Fighters and even the Deftones and Chevelle. Songs like "A Monday In Vegas" and "Chorus Of Birds" are prime examples of the band's creative ability to meld both melody and catchy choruses with aggressive song writing.

Lyrically, Lucerin Blue are one of the most challenging bands on the scene. Talking about life and relationships in poetry, the band is profoundly captivating and original. In a musical landscape often characterized by negativity, Lucerin Blue are indeed a breath of fresh air.

Lucerin Blue are proving themselves each night on tour. In the spring of 2003 the band performed a support slot on the full Disciple / East West tour, playing in front of hundreds of people each night. Lucerin Blue's live show is both energetic and invigorating adding a whole new dimension to the band's sound. Only time will tell where this young band's path will lead but if "Tales Of The Knife" is any indication, prepare to hear Lucerin Blue's name for a long time to come.
