Artist Biography
Sometimes, a genre term comes along that pricks up ears, turns heads and raises eyebrows in equal measure. Sometimes, two styles clash in a manner that has as many people running to grab their nearest pair of headphones as it does people screaming into their pillows in blind fear. This is one of those times. This, ladies and gentlemen, is rap djent. Er…no wait… it’s djent-hop. Tech grime? Street ri-ah fuck it, it’s Hacktivist.

“To be honest with you, it was a fluke!,” laughs founding member and guitarist (and former Heart Of A Coward man) Tim James when asked exactly how and when he decided to meld techy, djent-friendly, ambient riffs with urbanised rapping and grimy undertones. “I’d left Heart Of A Coward, and I was kinda feeling that I wasn’t making much of a change to anything. I wanted to be a part of something that no one had ever done – but I didn’t plan to start doing rap-metal-djent or whatever. I started writing my own stuff, and my mate J [Hurley, vocals] came over and heard it and thought it was wicked. He had some bars that he just smashed on it, and I heard it and thought, ‘Jesus Christ!’”
