Album Description
Available in:
The Subway Organization lived a brief but influential life from 1986 to 1990. Started in 1985, they had such Indie luminaries as The Soup Dragons, Shop Assistants, The Flatmates, The Chesterfields and Razorcuts on their roster at one time or another.
This is the first compilation LP and is indicative of the bands that Subway gravitated towards (or attracted depending on your preference...). 'Take The Subway To Your Suburb' was originally released in 1986 on vinyl and then reissued on CD, with extra tracks, in 1993.

User Album Review
Creation Records tapped into and helped foster a huge grassroots network of pop fanatics in the U.K. Lots of tiny labels popped up in its wake, adhering to the back-to-basics values of pop melodies, unsteady singing, four chords, and lashings of scene fraternity. Within such narrow stylistic confines a number of good-to-great singles were released in infinitesimal pressings to a loyal group of fans, most of whom were themselves in bands releasing singles, writing their own fanzines, or starting up their own labels. Subway was one of the first labels to follow Creation's lead, and it became influential in its own right. This compilation has 22 tracks by the Clouds, Razorcuts, the Chesterfields, the Flatmates, the Groove Farm, and Pop Will Eat Itself, among others. Worth seeking out for fans of British indie-pop.
